AP Universities Recruitment 2026 Notification Overview
The State Government has issued orders granting permission to fill 1,523 faculty positions in various universities. In accordance with the recently released Job Calendar, permission was granted to issue the notification on Friday. Out of the 1,523 posts, 279 are backlog and 1,244 are regular positions.
A screening test will be conducted by the APPSC for Assistant Professor roles. However, there will be no written exam for Associate Professor and Professor posts. Applications will be accepted starting from the 18th of this month. The highest number of vacancies are in:

The government has issued a separate order providing weightage to contract faculty. Universities must identify and submit a list of currently working contract faculty to the government. A weightage of 0.5% per year will be given, considering a maximum of 10 years of service. This weightage applies only to those who secure the minimum qualifying marks in the written exam. Weightage will also be given in the interview (1 mark per year, up to a maximum of 10 marks). Minimum qualifying marks in the written exam are:

Essential Qualifications for AP Universities Recruitment 2026
Assistant Professor Eligibility
Essential Qualifications:
a) A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
b) Candidate must have cleared UGC-NET / CSIR-NET / APSET / APSLET in the relevant discipline.
OR
c) Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC Regulations, 2009/2016 and amendments, are exempted from NET/SLET/APSET.
OR
d) A Ph.D. degree from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 universities in the world (QS/THE/ARWU).
Relaxation:
- 5% relaxation for SC/ST/BC/PwBD candidates.
- 5% relaxation for Ph.D. holders who obtained Master’s degree prior to 19 Sept 1991.

Stage 1: Screening & Academic Score
