Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is the AP DSC Special Education Recruitment 2026?
It is a recruitment by the School Education Department of Andhra Pradesh for School Assistants and Secondary Grade Teachers in Special Education under APTRT/DSC-2026. Posts are in Government, ZPP, MPP, Municipality and Municipal Corporation schools, and selection is through a Computer Based Test plus APTET weightage.

2. How many vacancies are notified?
The notification lists 350 vacancies in total across 26 districts. Of these, 150 are School Assistant (Special Education) posts and 200 are Secondary Grade Teacher (Special Education) posts. District-wise and management-wise figures are given in the vacancy table above.

3. What are the application start and last dates?
Applications and fee payment open on 11 November 2026 and close on 30 November 2026. Both the fee payment and online submission must be completed by the last date. Candidates should avoid waiting until the final day because heavy traffic on the portal can cause delays.

4. What is the application fee?
The fee is Rs. 1,000 for each post, paid through the online payment gateway. A candidate applying for two posts pays for each. The notification does not mention any fee concession for specific categories, so confirm this in the Information Bulletin.

5. What is the age limit for this recruitment?
The age must be between 18 and 44 years as on 01.07.2026. The upper limit is 49 years for SC, ST, BC and EWS candidates and 54 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities. Ex-servicemen can deduct their service period plus three years from their actual age.

6. Is APTET compulsory for these posts?
Yes. School Assistant (Special Education) candidates need APTET Paper-IIB, and SGT (Special Education) candidates need Paper-IB. The APTET score also carries 20% weightage in the final merit, so a valid score is required both for eligibility and for selection.

7. Is RCI registration mandatory?
Yes. Candidates applying for both categories of posts must be registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India and hold a CRR number. The qualifying course must also be recognised by RCI. Candidates without a CRR number should sort out registration before applying.

8. What is the exam pattern?
The CBT has 160 multiple-choice questions for 80 marks, with 2 hours 30 minutes allotted. It covers general knowledge, special education perspectives, psychology with reference to children with special needs, disability specialisation and methodology. The test is held in English and Telugu.

9. How is the final merit decided?
Final marks combine the CBT score (80%) with the APTET score (20%). Eligible service weightage of up to 5 marks may be added for qualified candidates, but the total cannot exceed 100. The merit-cum-roster list is then prepared according to reservations and the candidate’s declared preferences.

10. What are the minimum qualifying marks?
The minimum on the combined score is 40% for OC and EWS, 35% for Backward Classes and 30% for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. Ex-servicemen and sportspersons follow their communal category. Scoring the minimum does not guarantee selection, because ranking depends on merit and vacancies.

11. Can I apply for more than one post?
Yes, if you are eligible. You must list your order of preference for posts and managements while applying. If you are selected for a higher preference, you are removed from the lower ones. A one-time change of preference order is allowed for seven days after the merit list.

12. When will the DSC-2026 exam be held?
The CBT sessions are scheduled from 20 December 2026 to 13 January 2027. The mock test is available from 5 December 2026 and hall tickets can be downloaded from 14 December 2026. The notification says the schedule may change depending on applicant numbers.

13. Is there negative marking in the exam?
The G.O. and notification do not mention negative marking. The Information Bulletin on the official website should be checked for the final exam instructions before the test.

Advice

The AP DSC Special Education 2026 recruitment is a rare chance for RCI-qualified candidates with a valid APTET score to secure 350 teaching posts in government and local body schools. The window is short, from 11 to 30 November 2026, so use the time wisely.

Read G.O.Ms.No.51 and the Information Bulletin first, keep your certificates, RCI number and APTET details ready, and think carefully about your post and management preferences before submitting. Since no edit is allowed after final submission, double-check every entry, and visit the official website regularly for the user guide, mock test and schedule updates.
