Candidates must be between 20 and 28 years of age as on February 1, 2026. This means candidates born not earlier than February 2, 1998 and not later than February 1, 2006 are eligible to apply.

🎓 RBI Assistant 2025 Eligibility – Educational Qualifications

All qualifications must be as on February 1, 2026.

For General Candidates

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university/institution with at least 50% aggregate marks, along with knowledge of word processing on PC (computer literacy).

For SC / ST / PwBD Candidates

Pass class (no minimum percentage required) in a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline, subject to reservation of vacancies in the respective State/Office.

For Ex-Servicemen (except dependents of ex-servicemen)

Either a graduate from a recognized university OR should have passed Matriculation (or equivalent examination of Armed Forces) and rendered at least 15 years of defence service.

Language Proficiency Requirement

Candidates applying for a particular Recruiting Office must be proficient (read, write, speak, and understand) in the official/local language of the state(s) falling under that Recruiting Office.

  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan

Stage 3: Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

Candidates shortlisted from the Main Exam (approximately 2× the number of vacancies) will be called for the LPT. The test is conducted in the official/local language of the concerned state. Failure in the LPT leads to disqualification. No exemption is given to any candidate.

After the closing date, RBI will provide a 2-day edit window (dates to be notified on the website) to correct certain fields in the application. A correction fee of ₹200/- (inclusive of GST) is applicable to all categories.

📜 RBI Assistant 2025 Reservation & Category Guidelines

OBC Candidates

Must produce an OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate based on income for FY 2024-25, 2023-24, and 2022-23, issued on or after April 1, 2025 and not later than the closing date (March 8, 2026). Candidates in the Creamy Layer must apply under the General category.

EWS Candidates

Must have a valid Income & Asset Certificate for FY 2024-25 (valid for 2025-26), issued in the Government of India prescribed format. If not in possession by March 8, 2026, apply under General (GEN) category.

PwBD Candidates

Must possess a permanent disability certificate from a competent authority. Disability conditions “likely to improve” under temporary disability are NOT eligible for reservation. A scribe facility and compensatory time (20 minutes per hour) is available for eligible candidates with 40% or more disability.

Ex-Servicemen

Candidates released/retired from Armed Forces, or whose Specified Period of Engagement (SPE) is likely to be completed on or before March 1, 2027, are eligible. If selected, they must join RBI on or before March 1, 2027.
