The age of applicants for ECoR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 should be between 15 to 24 years as on the closing date, i.e. 15/09/2026. Age relaxation is applicable to reserved categories as per Government of India rules, as shown below.

ECoR Apprentice Eligibility – Educational & Technical Qualification
Candidates must have already passed the required qualification as on the notification date (21/08/2026). No pursuing or awaited-result candidates are eligible.
- Educational Qualification: Matriculation (10th Class) under the 10+2 system with minimum 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board.
- Technical Qualification: ITI Certificate in the relevant/designated trade, affiliated to NCVT, as per the Apprentices Act 1961.
- For Laboratory Technician (Pathology): 12th pass with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with minimum 50% marks in both 10th and 12th class.

East Coast Railway Apprentice 2026 Selection Process 2026
Unlike many recruitment exams, there is no written test or interview/viva for ECoR Act Apprentice engagement. Selection is purely on the basis of academic merit as explained below:
- A trade-wise and community-wise merit list is prepared based solely on the percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate required).
- Percentage is calculated using marks of ALL subjects (not the “best of five” method); candidates with CGPA must convert it to equivalent percentage.
- In case of a tie in marks, the older candidate gets preference; if DOB is also same, the candidate who passed Matriculation earlier is preferred.
- Shortlisted candidates are called for Document Verification (DV) at ECoR Headquarters, Bhubaneswar, based on merit in their preferred trade and Unit/Division.
- Final selection is subject to verification of original documents and submission of a Medical Fitness Certificate (Annexure-F).

ECoR Apprentice Training Period, Stipend & Salary
Selected candidates will undergo apprenticeship training as per the extant Apprentices Act, 1961 rules. During the training period, a monthly stipend will be paid at the prescribed rate as per Railway Board directives issued from time to time. No hostel accommodation is provided — apprentices must arrange their own stay. No Daily Allowance (DA), Conveyance, or Travelling Allowance (TA) is paid for Document Verification visits.
ECoR Apprentice Reservation Policy
Reservation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS is applicable as per Government of India norms. Additionally, horizontal reservation of 4% for PwBD and 3% for Ex-Servicemen is provided within the overall notified vacancies (not additional).
